Community Guidelines
Effective October 12, 2026
Met Outside is built around a simple idea: it should be easier to find people to actually do things with in real life.
Creating that kind of community requires everyone to treat other people with respect, use good judgment, and respect boundaries both online and offline.
These Community Guidelines apply to your activity on Met Outside and to plans, interactions, and conduct connected to people you meet through Met Outside.
They work together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Adults Only
Met Outside is for adults age 18 and older.
Do not create an account if you are under 18. Do not misrepresent your age or knowingly help someone under 18 access the Service.
If you believe someone using Met Outside is under 18, report the account with the child-safety reason or contact us at contact@metoutside.com.
2. Be Yourself
Authenticity helps people make informed decisions about who they meet.
Do not:
- impersonate another person;
- pretend to represent an organization you are not authorized to represent;
- create a deceptive identity;
- materially misrepresent who you are; or
- use another person's photos or information to mislead people about your identity.
You do not need to share every detail about yourself, but the information you choose to provide should not intentionally mislead other users.
3. Respect Boundaries
Respect other people's boundaries online and in person.
Do not:
- harass, bully, intimidate, or repeatedly insult another person;
- repeatedly contact someone who has asked you to stop;
- pressure someone to attend a plan, communicate with you, follow you, share personal information, drink alcohol, engage in sexual or romantic activity, or do anything else they have declined;
- stalk or surveil another user;
- deliberately follow someone to another location after they have indicated they do not want further interaction; or
- use Met Outside to continue unwanted contact that began elsewhere.
A person's decision to attend the same plan as you does not mean they have agreed to friendship, dating, sexual activity, continued communication, or any other relationship.
Consent and boundaries still matter after people meet in person.
4. Respect Blocks
Blocking is a boundary.
Do not attempt to circumvent another user's block.
That includes using another account, asking someone else to contact the person for you, creating a new account to regain access, or using information obtained through Met Outside to continue unwanted contact elsewhere.
Do not retaliate against someone because you believe they blocked or reported you.
5. No Hate or Discriminatory Harassment
Met Outside does not permit hateful, degrading, or harassing conduct directed at people based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or other characteristics protected by applicable law.
Do not:
- use slurs or hateful language;
- threaten or demean people because of who they are;
- encourage hatred or violence against a protected group; or
- use plan descriptions, messages, profiles, photos, or other features to harass or degrade people based on protected characteristics.
Met Outside may allow hosts to identify an intended audience for certain plans where the product provides that functionality. An audience setting does not permit harassment, hateful conduct, or abuse of other users.
6. No Threats, Violence, or Dangerous Conduct
Do not use Met Outside to threaten, encourage, coordinate, or engage in violence or other conduct that creates a serious risk of harm.
This includes:
- credible threats of violence;
- encouraging another person to harm themselves or someone else;
- intentionally creating dangerous situations for attendees;
- using a plan as a pretext to harm, intimidate, rob, exploit, or trap another person;
- bringing people into circumstances materially different from what was represented when doing so creates a safety risk; or
- using Met Outside to facilitate serious illegal activity.
If there is an immediate threat to someone's safety, contact local emergency services. Met Outside is not an emergency response service.
7. Sexual Harassment, Exploitation, and Misconduct
Met Outside is a social platform, not permission to disregard another person's sexual or romantic boundaries.
Do not:
- send unsolicited sexually explicit messages, images, or other content;
- make repeated sexual advances after someone has declined or shown they are not interested;
- pressure or coerce someone into sexual or romantic activity;
- engage in non-consensual sexual conduct;
- secretly record intimate or sexual activity;
- share intimate content without the person's consent;
- sexually exploit another person; or
- use Met Outside to facilitate commercial sexual exploitation or other prohibited sexual activity.
Meeting someone through Met Outside never implies consent to sexual or romantic activity.
Consent must be freely given and may be withdrawn.
8. No Scams, Fraud, or Financial Exploitation
Do not use Met Outside to deceive or financially exploit other users.
This includes:
- scams;
- fraudulent requests for money;
- deceptive fundraising;
- phishing;
- theft;
- knowingly fraudulent business opportunities;
- intentionally misleading users about the purpose of a plan;
- impersonating Met Outside staff; or
- attempting to obtain passwords, financial information, verification codes, or other sensitive information through deception.
Do not send money or sensitive financial information to another user merely because you met them through Met Outside.
9. Respect People's Privacy
Do not use information obtained through Met Outside to violate another person's privacy.
Without appropriate authorization, do not publish or distribute another person's:
- home address;
- phone number;
- email address;
- private messages;
- sensitive personal information;
- financial information;
- identification documents; or
- other information that was reasonably intended to remain private.
Meeting information provided for the purpose of attending a plan should be used for that purpose.
Do not republish private meeting locations or use them to show up somewhere you are not authorized to attend.
Do not attempt to bypass Met Outside's privacy or access controls to obtain information you are not permitted to see.
10. Photos and Tagging
Photos should reflect genuine experiences and respect the people who participated in them.
Do not:
- upload photos you do not have the right to share;
- use photos to harass, humiliate, exploit, or threaten another person;
- post intimate or sexually explicit images of another person without their consent;
- falsely identify someone as participating in a plan they did not attend; or
- misuse tagging to create a false association between a person and a plan.
Where Met Outside allows people who attended the same plan to tag one another, following each other is not required for tagging eligibility.
Being eligible to tag someone does not override a block or other applicable privacy or safety restriction.
If someone raises a legitimate privacy or safety concern about a photo involving them, please take that concern seriously.
11. Be Honest About Plans
Hosts should make a reasonable effort to accurately describe the plans they create.
Do not intentionally misrepresent:
- what the plan is;
- where it will take place;
- material costs participants are expected to pay;
- significant participation requirements;
- the nature of the activity; or
- other information that would reasonably affect someone's decision to attend.
Plans should not be used as bait for unrelated sales pitches, scams, recruitment schemes, sexual activity, or another materially different purpose that was concealed from attendees.
If circumstances materially change, hosts should make a reasonable effort to update participants when appropriate.
12. Respect Hosts and Other Attendees
Joining a plan means joining a shared social environment.
Treat hosts, attendees, venue staff, and other people you encounter respectfully.
Do not intentionally disrupt plans, threaten attendees, damage property, or create an unsafe environment.
Hosts may manage participation in their plans using tools provided by Met Outside. Being accepted into a plan does not give anyone an unconditional right to remain in that plan if their behavior violates these Guidelines or creates legitimate safety concerns.
Similarly, attendees may leave plans or interactions when they no longer wish to participate.
13. Don't Abuse Met Outside's Features
Do not deliberately misuse features designed to help the community function safely.
This includes:
- submitting knowingly false or malicious reports;
- coordinating reports to harass another person;
- attempting to manipulate attendance records;
- intentionally creating false social connections or activity;
- evading account restrictions;
- creating accounts to circumvent enforcement;
- scraping or harvesting user information without authorization; or
- attempting to bypass privacy, authorization, or security controls.
Good-faith reports will not violate these Guidelines merely because Met Outside ultimately decides not to take enforcement action.
14. Use Good Judgment When Meeting in Person
No online platform can eliminate all of the risks involved in meeting people.
You are responsible for deciding what precautions are appropriate for you.
Depending on the circumstances, you may choose to:
- meet in a public or familiar location;
- tell someone you trust where you are going;
- arrange your own transportation;
- keep control of your personal belongings;
- avoid sharing sensitive personal information before you are comfortable;
- leave if circumstances are materially different from what you expected; or
- end an interaction that makes you uncomfortable.
These are suggestions, not guarantees of safety.
Trust your judgment. You may leave a plan or interaction when you no longer want to participate.
If you believe you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services rather than relying on Met Outside.
15. Reporting Concerns
If you encounter conduct that may violate these Guidelines, you may use available reporting tools to report a user, plan, message, photo, or other supported content.
Provide accurate information when making a report.
Reporting something does not guarantee a particular enforcement outcome. Met Outside may review the information available and determine what action, if any, is appropriate.
If you no longer want to interact with another user, blocking may also be available separately from reporting.
For additional help, contact contact@metoutside.com.
16. Enforcement
Met Outside may take action when we reasonably believe these Community Guidelines, our Terms of Service, applicable law, or our safety and security requirements have been violated.
Depending on the circumstances, action may include:
- issuing a warning;
- hiding a plan, photograph, message, or other user-generated content from other members while preserving the underlying record and, where appropriate, restoring access after further review;
- limiting access to features;
- removing someone from a plan where appropriate;
- restricting an account;
- deactivating an account to prevent the account holder from logging in or accessing the Service, without automatically deleting the account, its previously submitted content, or related safety and moderation records;
- terminating an account; or
- taking other reasonable measures to protect users or the Service.
The action taken may depend on factors such as the nature and severity of the conduct, available information, repeated violations, safety risks, and applicable law.
We are not obligated to disclose confidential reports, safety information, internal investigations, or information about another user's account or enforcement history.
17. These Guidelines May Evolve
Met Outside may update these Community Guidelines as the community, Service, and safety practices evolve.
Material changes may be communicated through the Service, by email, or through another reasonable method where appropriate.
The effective date at the top identifies when the current Community Guidelines became effective.
18. Child safety
Met Outside is only for adults age 18 or older. People under 18 may not create an account, use the Service, or be helped to misrepresent their age.
Met Outside prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation. That includes:
- child sexual abuse material;
- sexual content involving anyone under 18;
- grooming or sexual solicitation of a minor;
- asking a minor for sexual images, sexual conversation, or a meeting; and
- using Met Outside to exploit a minor.
Report this in the app with the reason “Child sexual abuse or a minor on Met Outside,” or email contact@metoutside.com. That address is the child-safety and general safety contact.
Authorized reviewers will review the report, hide the relevant plan, message, or photo from members when appropriate, and restrict the account when appropriate. Hiding content removes it from member view. It does not delete the report or the underlying record. Those records stay available for authorized safety review.
Where the law requires it, a person at Met Outside will report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children or another applicable authority. The product does not file that report automatically. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
