Terms of Service
Effective October 12, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Met Outside, including our websites, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, accessing, or using Met Outside, you agree to be bound by these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Met Outside.
By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 18 years old, are legally able to enter into these Terms, and will provide accurate information about yourself. You may not misrepresent your age, identity, or other material account information.
Met Outside may use information you provide to determine whether you meet our eligibility requirements. Unless we expressly tell you otherwise, however, Met Outside does not independently verify every user's identity, age, background, or the accuracy of information provided by users.
2. About Met Outside
Met Outside is a social platform designed to help adults discover, host, join, and participate in real-world social plans and connect with people they meet through those experiences.
Users, not Met Outside, create and participate in plans available through the Service. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Met Outside does not organize, supervise, direct, control, endorse, or participate in user-created plans.
A host's creation of a plan does not make that person an employee, agent, representative, partner, or contractor of Met Outside. Similarly, Met Outside is not a party to agreements or arrangements users may make with one another in connection with a plan.
We provide the technology that helps users connect. Each user is responsible for deciding whether, where, when, and with whom to interact or meet.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your login credentials and for activity occurring through your account.
You agree to provide accurate, current information and to keep information associated with your account reasonably up to date.
You may not:
- create an account for someone else without authorization;
- impersonate another person or organization;
- provide materially false information about yourself;
- share an account in a way that compromises its security;
- access another person's account without permission; or
- attempt to circumvent account, privacy, security, or safety restrictions.
If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, contact us at contact@metoutside.com.
We may require reasonable steps to protect an account or verify information when necessary to protect users, investigate suspected misuse, or maintain the security of the Service.
4. Hosting and Joining Plans
Met Outside allows eligible users to create plans, request to join plans, participate in plans, and interact with other users in connection with those plans.
Hosts
If you host a plan, you are responsible for the information you provide about it and for using reasonable judgment when managing participation.
You agree not to create plans that are deceptive, unlawful, dangerous, discriminatory, exploitative, or otherwise violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
Hosts may have tools that allow them to manage participation, approve or decline requests, remove participants, cancel plans, or record attendance.
Hosting a plan does not give you authority to act on behalf of Met Outside.
Attendees
If you request to join or attend a plan, you are responsible for reviewing available information and deciding whether participation is appropriate for you.
Acceptance into a plan does not guarantee that the plan will occur as described, that other users will attend, or that a host or attendee will behave in any particular way.
Users may be able to withdraw from or leave eligible upcoming plans through the Service.
Plan Information
Certain information about a plan may be visible publicly or to other users, while other information may be limited to people who have been approved to participate or who otherwise meet applicable access requirements.
Do not share private meeting details or other users' private information with people who are not authorized to receive it.
5. In-Person Safety
Meeting people in person involves inherent risks, including risks that Met Outside cannot predict or control.
You are responsible for exercising your own judgment when communicating with users, deciding whether to attend a plan, choosing where to meet, traveling to or from a plan, and interacting with people you meet through the Service.
Met Outside does not guarantee:
- the identity or background of another user;
- that information provided by a user is accurate;
- another user's intentions, conduct, reliability, or safety;
- that a plan will occur as described;
- that a particular person will attend a plan; or
- that any interaction or gathering will be safe.
Unless Met Outside expressly states otherwise for a particular feature or program, we do not perform comprehensive background checks on users, continuously monitor gatherings, supervise users in person, or provide emergency services.
If you believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Do not rely on Met Outside as an emergency response service.
Users should take reasonable precautions appropriate to the circumstances when meeting people through the Service.
6. User Content
“User Content” means content that users submit, upload, create, send, or otherwise make available through Met Outside, including profile information, plan information, messages, photographs, captions, and other materials.
Your Ownership
You retain ownership of your User Content, subject to any rights belonging to other people whose content or likeness may appear in it.
License to Met Outside
By submitting User Content, you grant Met Outside a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, display, format, transmit, and otherwise use that content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, improve, and provide the Service.
This license does not transfer ownership of your User Content to Met Outside.
The license continues for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and may continue for content that must reasonably remain as part of shared records, safety or security records, backups, legal obligations, or content associated with other users, subject to applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
Your Responsibilities
You represent that you have the rights necessary to submit your User Content and permit Met Outside to use it as described in these Terms.
You may not submit content that:
- violates another person's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- unlawfully reveals another person's private or sensitive information;
- contains unlawful, threatening, exploitative, or prohibited material; or
- otherwise violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.
If you upload photographs or other content containing other people, you are responsible for ensuring that your sharing of that content is appropriate and lawful.
7. Acceptable Use
You may use Met Outside only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms and our Community Guidelines.
You may not use Met Outside to engage in, facilitate, encourage, or promote:
- harassment, bullying, or targeted abuse;
- stalking or unwanted surveillance;
- threats, intimidation, or violence;
- hateful or discriminatory conduct;
- sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, or sexual misconduct;
- fraud, scams, theft, or deceptive conduct;
- impersonation or material misrepresentation;
- exploitation or abuse of another person;
- dangerous or unlawful activity;
- unauthorized disclosure of another person's private information;
- infringement of intellectual property or other legal rights;
- attempts to evade another user's block;
- attempts to bypass privacy, authorization, security, or safety controls;
- unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or information;
- malicious interference with the Service; or
- misuse of reporting, moderation, or safety tools.
You also may not use automated methods to scrape, harvest, collect, or access information from the Service except as expressly authorized by Met Outside or permitted by applicable law.
8. Blocking, Reporting, and Enforcement
Met Outside provides tools intended to help users manage their interactions, including blocking and reporting features.
Blocking may restrict interactions and visibility between users across portions of the Service. Users may not intentionally circumvent another person's block or use another account to evade restrictions.
You may report users, plans, messages, photographs, or other content where reporting functionality is available.
Submitting a report does not guarantee a particular outcome. A report does not necessarily result in removal of content, cancellation of a plan, suspension of an account, or other enforcement action.
Met Outside may make an upcoming gathering unavailable or place it under review without formally cancelling the gathering or removing existing RSVPs. Affected participants may see a notice stating that the gathering is unavailable and pending review. This notice does not constitute confirmation that the gathering has been cancelled, does not disclose the reason for the review, and does not guarantee that the gathering will be restored.
If a gathering is marked unavailable or pending review, participants should not rely on its prior listing, location, date, or RSVP status as confirmation that the gathering will proceed. Participants should refrain from attending unless the gathering's availability has been restored and its details have been confirmed through the Service. Met Outside does not guarantee that a host will independently cancel or refrain from holding a gathering outside the Service.
Met Outside may review reports and other information available to us and may take action when we reasonably believe it is appropriate to:
- enforce these Terms or our Community Guidelines;
- protect users or other people;
- protect the security or integrity of the Service;
- investigate suspected fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity;
- comply with applicable law or legal process; or
- address conduct that creates risk to Met Outside, our users, or others.
Depending on the circumstances, Met Outside may take one or more enforcement actions, including issuing warnings; limiting or restricting access to features; hiding plans, photographs, messages, or other user-generated content from members while preserving the underlying records; restoring previously hidden content when appropriate; deactivating accounts to prevent further access or login; or terminating accounts in accordance with these Terms. Hiding content or deactivating an account does not, by itself, permanently delete the underlying plan, photograph, message, account, safety report, or related moderation records. We may preserve relevant information for safety investigations, dispute resolution, enforcement of our policies, and compliance with applicable law, subject to our Privacy Policy.
Met Outside is not obligated to monitor every user, message, plan, photograph, or interaction, and the availability of reporting tools does not mean that Met Outside monitors activity in real time.
9. Account Suspension, Termination, and Deletion
You may stop using Met Outside at any time and may request or initiate deletion of your account through available account settings.
When an account is deleted, Met Outside will handle associated information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Some information may not disappear immediately or completely. For example, certain information may reasonably remain where necessary to:
- maintain shared records involving other users;
- preserve the integrity of past plans or interactions;
- investigate or document safety, fraud, abuse, or security matters;
- comply with legal obligations;
- resolve disputes;
- enforce agreements; or
- maintain backups for a limited period.
Where appropriate, information associated with deleted users may instead be removed, de-identified, or displayed without identifying the former user.
Met Outside may restrict, suspend, or terminate your account or access to some or all of the Service if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or our Community Guidelines, created a safety or security risk, engaged in unlawful or abusive conduct, or if restriction is reasonably necessary to protect the Service, our users, or others.
Where appropriate and legally permitted, we may take action without prior notice.
10. Met Outside Intellectual Property
The Service, including Met Outside's name, branding, logos, software, interface, design, text created by Met Outside, graphics, and other proprietary materials, is owned by or licensed to Met Outside and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Except for rights expressly granted under these Terms, these Terms do not grant you ownership of or a license to use Met Outside's trademarks, branding, software, or other intellectual property.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from protected portions of the Service except as permitted by applicable law or with our written permission.
Nothing in these Terms prevents you from sharing honest opinions or reviews about Met Outside or your experience with the Service.
11. Paid Features, Purchases, and Subscriptions
Met Outside may offer optional paid features, services, memberships, subscriptions, or other purchases.
If you choose to purchase a paid offering, the price and other material terms applicable to that purchase will be disclosed to you before you complete the transaction. Depending on the offering, these terms may include the amount charged, billing frequency, subscription or renewal period, applicable taxes or fees, trial or promotional terms, cancellation terms, and other material conditions of the purchase.
You will not be charged for an optional paid offering unless you take the steps required to authorize the purchase.
Subscriptions and Recurring Payments
Some paid offerings may be provided on a subscription or automatically renewing basis.
Before you enroll in a recurring paid offering, Met Outside will disclose the material subscription terms and obtain your affirmative consent to recurring charges as required by applicable law.
Unless otherwise disclosed when you subscribe, a recurring subscription will continue and your selected payment method may be charged at the disclosed billing interval until you cancel.
You may cancel a subscription using the cancellation method made available for that subscription. Cancellation will stop future renewals or recurring charges as described at the time of purchase, but ordinarily will not retroactively refund charges already incurred or eliminate access for a period that has already been paid for, except where required by applicable law or expressly stated otherwise.
Prices and Changes
Prices for paid offerings may change over time.
If the price or other material terms of a recurring paid offering change, Met Outside will provide any notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law before the change applies to you.
The price, billing frequency, renewal terms, and other material purchase terms presented to you when you complete a transaction form part of your agreement with Met Outside for that transaction.
Payment Processing
Payments may be processed by third-party payment processors or app marketplaces.
Your payment method and transaction may also be subject to terms and privacy practices established by those third parties.
Met Outside does not guarantee the continued availability of any particular payment method or payment provider.
Refunds
Any refund policy applicable to a paid offering will be disclosed in connection with that offering.
Refunds will also be provided where required by applicable law.
If you purchase through a third-party app marketplace or payment provider, refunds may also be subject to that provider's applicable policies.
Taxes
Applicable taxes or similar charges may be included in or added to the price of a paid offering. Met Outside may collect or remit taxes where required by applicable law.
12. Third-Party Services
Met Outside may contain links to, integrate with, or rely on services operated by third parties.
We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, privacy practices, or conduct.
Your use of third-party services may be governed by separate terms and privacy policies provided by those third parties.
References to third-party businesses, venues, products, or services through Met Outside do not necessarily constitute an endorsement by Met Outside.
13. Changes to the Service
We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features or portions of the Service over time.
We do not guarantee that every feature will always be available, that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a particular feature will continue in its current form.
We may make changes for reasons including product development, safety, security, legal compliance, technical requirements, or operational needs.
14. Disclaimers
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MET OUTSIDE AND THE SERVICE ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MET OUTSIDE DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
MET OUTSIDE DOES NOT WARRANT THAT:
- THE SERVICE WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE;
- INFORMATION PROVIDED BY USERS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE;
- USERS WILL BE WHO THEY CLAIM TO BE;
- A PLAN WILL OCCUR OR WILL OCCUR AS DESCRIBED;
- USERS WILL BEHAVE APPROPRIATELY OR SAFELY; OR
- USE OF THE SERVICE OR PARTICIPATION IN A PLAN WILL PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT.
YOU UNDERSTAND THAT INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS, INCLUDING IN-PERSON INTERACTIONS, INVOLVE RISKS THAT CANNOT BE COMPLETELY ELIMINATED BY AN ONLINE PLATFORM.
Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MET OUTSIDE AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MET OUTSIDE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT OF USERS OR OTHER THIRD PARTIES, INCLUDING CONDUCT OCCURRING BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER AN IN-PERSON PLAN.
THIS INCLUDES, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLAIMS ARISING FROM USER INTERACTIONS, USER CONTENT, CANCELLED OR CHANGED PLANS, DISPUTES BETWEEN USERS, OR ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF THIRD PARTIES.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability. Where those laws apply, these limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
16. Your Responsibility for Your Conduct
You are responsible for your conduct, your User Content, and your interactions with other users.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for claims, losses, liabilities, or expenses arising from your unlawful conduct, your material violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.
This section does not require you to assume responsibility for Met Outside's own unlawful conduct or for liabilities that applicable law does not permit us to shift to you.
17. Privacy
Our collection, use, and disclosure of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy is separate from these Terms but should be read together with them.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have had an opportunity to review the Privacy Policy.
18. Community Guidelines
Our Community Guidelines establish additional rules and expectations for conduct on Met Outside.
You agree to follow the Community Guidelines when using the Service.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and the Community Guidelines regarding your legal relationship with Met Outside, these Terms control.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
If we make material changes, we may provide notice through the Service, by email, or through another reasonable method as required by applicable law.
Where required by law or where we determine that renewed consent is appropriate, we may ask you to affirmatively accept updated Terms before continuing to use some or all of the Service.
The effective date shown at the top of these Terms identifies when the current Terms became effective.
Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance where permitted by applicable law. Where affirmative consent is legally required, we will seek that consent.
20. General Terms
Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and any additional terms that expressly apply to a particular feature or transaction, constitute the agreement between you and Met Outside concerning your use of the Service.
Severability
If a provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law or severed where necessary. The remaining provisions will remain in effect.
No Waiver
If Met Outside does not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, that does not waive our right to enforce it later.
Assignment
You may not transfer or assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
Met Outside may transfer or assign its rights and obligations in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, operation of law, or similar business transaction, subject to applicable law.
No Agency
These Terms do not create an employment, partnership, joint venture, franchise, fiduciary, or agency relationship between you and Met Outside.
Applicable Law and Disputes
These Terms do not waive any rights or protections you have under applicable law.
Any governing-law, venue, arbitration, or other dispute-resolution provisions applicable to the Service will be disclosed in these Terms if and when adopted.
