Met Outside

Your friends don't have to be free for you to have plans.

Become a Met Outside Founding Host

There's a restaurant you've been wanting to try. A class you keep saving. A museum exhibit you haven't seen. A neighborhood you've been meaning to explore.

The problem isn't that you have nothing to do. It's finding someone who's free when you are.

Met Outside is changing that. Create a plan for something you already want to do. We'll help you find a few people who want to join.

Keep it small

Hosting doesn't mean becoming an event planner.

A Met Outside plan might be something you were going to do anyway. The Host chooses something they genuinely want to do. Met Outside helps connect them with people who want to join.

Early gatherings should generally feel small and social rather than like large public events.

Who we're looking for

You don't need a following. You just need plans.

We are not specifically recruiting influencers. Potential Founding Hosts include people who:

  • are always finding things they want to try
  • are usually the friend making the reservation
  • recently moved or are expanding their social circle
  • enjoy meeting new people
  • have interests they wish more friends shared
  • already do things alone and wouldn't mind company
  • want to build community but don't want to run formal events

No follower minimum. No event-planning experience required.

Early launch

What we're asking

During our early launch, we're asking Founding Hosts to create two plans on Met Outside. They do not need to be elaborate events.

I'm getting ramen Saturday.

I'm going to this exhibit Sunday.

I'm trying this Pilates class.

I'm grabbing drinks Thursday.

Then invite a small group to join. We'll also ask Founding Hosts for feedback about their experience so we can make Met Outside better. This isn't a job, and it isn't unpaid labor — it's just hosting plans you already want to make.

What you get

Apply

Tell us a little about how you like to go out.

We're selecting our first group of Founding Hosts intentionally. This isn't a job application — just a few questions so we can get to know you.
